General information

Modern electronics, on the one hand, are the result of scientific and technological progress, and on the other hand, it is the engine itself. The achievements of electronics are the foundation for the development of information and communication technologies, a variety of computer systems: from artificial intelligence to smartphones and microcontroller household devices. Digital computer technology and artificial intelligence penetrate deeper into all social spheres – industry, commercial and business activities, education and the lives of people.

Computer engineering and electronics are areas for studying, integrating and implementing of specialized inventions of electrical and electronic engineering, as well as the achievements of computer sciences that are used to develop hardware and software for computer systems, creation, research and exploitation of electronic devices and systems based on integrated circuits, sensor and microsystem technology. Computer-integrated technologies are used in production, libraries, banks, Internet-communication systems and management, design, diagnostics, etc.

In view of this, the demand for specialists both in computer engineering and electronics is steadily increasing. The main task of the Department of Computer Engineering and Electronics is solving of this problem.

Specialties

  • 123 “Computer Engineering” (Bachelor and Master)
  • 171 “Electronics” (bachelor)

Form of education – full-time education.

Qualifications: IT specialist, specialist in electronic technology.

Students of the specialties “Computer Engineering” and “Electronics”, in addition to the fundamental knowledge of the principles of the construction and operation of modern electronic devices, receive in-depth knowledge of computer technology, computer control systems and computer networks, acquire skills of self-design, manufacturing, programming and customization of various electronic systems – from household to complex industrial ones. Laboratory classes take place in laboratories equipped with highly productive computers and means of development of universal and specialized computer systems based on the latest component base of leading foreign firms. The advantages of our graduates are the versatility and flexibility of professional training, which ensures their employment in various fields of science and technology, production, business. During the study, students of the department have the opportunity to practice and study in leading companies in the region OJSC “Microl”, Softjourn, SoftServe, EKTOS, Karpaty, Netgroup, Tyco Electronics, FLEXTRONICS, Leoni, ELEX, Technopolis. Leading computer specialists meet regularly with students and conduct study tours.

For the 2nd or 3rd year of specialties “Computer Engineering” and “Electronics” may enter entrants who graduated from college in the specialties:

“Maintenance of software systems and complexes”;

“Maintenance of databases and knowledge systems”;

“Maintenance of computer systems and networks”;

“Software development”;

“Electronics”.

Bachelors of the specialties “Computer Engineering” and “Electronics” have the opportunity to continue their education at the “Master” level of the “Computer Engineering” specialty. The system of double diplomas with European higher education institutions is implemented at the Faculty. Students can continue their scientific work in postgraduate studies in “Electronics” after graduating from the magistracy.

Professional activity. The field of activity of specialists in computer engineering and electronics is the creation, using and maintenance of computer systems of universal and specialized purpose, local and corporate networks, the Internet, databases, computer networks, system and application software, specialized, including built-in computer devices, digital communication facilities, signal and image processing systems, high-performance computer systems. Specialists of computer engineering, in comparison with specialists in software engineering, specialize more in the development of hardware and software of specialized computer systems, since they have knowledge of computer architecture, electronics and microelectronics, design of large integrated circuits and hardware systems, software and hardware development providing real-time systems.

Students are provided with a hostel.

The department facilitates the employment of graduates.
