On October 23, at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, the Stefanyk Open Day: Univer&City event took place.
More than 700 students from lyceums and vocational schools of the Ivano-Frankivsk region attended the Stefanyk Open Day.
The event was moderated by Halyna Voloshchuk, Director of the Center for Professional Career and Education, Associate Professor of the Department of Philology at the Kolomyia Educational and Scientific Institute. She welcomed the guests of the university and wished them confidence in choosing their professional path, inspiration in learning, and faith in their own abilities.
During the meeting, the students learned about the university as a true “city of professions,” got acquainted with the specialties preparing professionals for the modern labor market, communicated with career consultants, and visited the locations of selected faculties.
At the Faculty of Physics and Technology, teachers and students prepared interesting stands and presentation sessions for future applicants.
Information about the specialties and educational programs offered by the faculty was presented by Volodymyr Hryha, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Engineering and Electronics and responsible for the faculty’s career guidance work. The students also learned about academic mobility, scholarship opportunities, and double-degree programs.
Professor Liubomyr Nykyruy, Head of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, introduced the students to the fundamental features of the educational programs offered by the department, shared examples of real scientific projects implemented within the faculty’s divisions, and discussed employment opportunities for graduates. In addition, participants learned about the International Scientific Center “Observatory” on Mount Pip Ivan and the unique astronomical equipment used to study cosmic phenomena.
The Chair of the Student Trade Union Bureau, Vladyslav Boiko, informed the visitors about the use of innovative technologies in the educational process and described the vibrant student life at the faculty.
Associate Professor Halyna Voitkiv from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, together with students of the “Secondary Education (Physics and Mathematics)” program, organized engaging physical experiments in electricity, magnetism, mechanics, and molecular physics, and conducted a fascinating training session using virtual and augmented reality headsets.
Vitalii Martyniuk, a master’s student of the “Computer Engineering” educational program, gave a lecture titled “Fundamentals of Web Programming.” He demonstrated the connection between web development and computer engineering and showed how to develop social and professional skills through self-learning, internships, and training at leading IT companies.
Marko-Andrii Dmyterchuk, a third-year bachelor’s student of the “Computer Engineering” program, presented a talk titled “3D Printing and UI/UX Design.” He spoke about the unique possibilities of creating objects in 3D space and showcased his own 3D models of notable landmarks. The students learned about the roles of 3D, UI, and UX designers in the IT world, the industries where these specialists are in high demand, and their future career prospects.
The operation of virtual and augmented reality systems as well as gaming devices was demonstrated by Vitalii Fedenko, a postgraduate student of the Department of Computer Engineering and Electronics.
The most active participants of the event received gifts from the Faculty of Physics and Technology.
